About Ingrey's

The name “Ingrey” has been associated with the Motor Industry within the Upper Great Southern since 1959, when Chris Ingrey commenced his Motor Mechanic apprenticeship in Brookton. After completing his five year apprenticeship Chris spent a couple of years in Perth before getting married to Kaye Edgar and then buying the Central Garage in Brookton.

In late 1969 early 1970 Chris moved to Narrogin and commenced business with Dugald Ferguson and they operated the Ford franchise “Ferguson Ingrey”. After three years and having dealerships in both Pingelly and Wagin, Chris and Dugald separated the business and Chris moved to Wagin to operate Ingrey Motors in 1973.

In 1979 Chris and Kaye bought out the Narrogin franchise moved the family of Andrew, Donnelle and Justin back to Narrogin. Chris’ decision to move back to Narrogin was on the basis that the way forward for the business was to be in a Regional Town.  With the Business located at 42 Egerton St it quickly grew by gaining the Suzuki, Subaru, Nissan and Mitsubishi Car franchises as well as having branches in both Katanning and Bunbury.

Chris had also been able to attract several Machinery franchises including Silvan, Lely, and Same, but by 1998 with Andrew (Sales Manager), Justin (Sales Consultant) and Donnelle’s Husband Grant Chapman (Business Manager) the now Family business moved to its current location of 12-14 Federal St.

As in life nothing remains constant so since that time many things have changed. The branches in both Bunbury and Katanning were closed and the Business now has just 3 Car Franchises being Ford, Nissan and Mitsubishi. Its machinery arm however has continued to grow with its current range of Products from Silvan-Jen-ell, Lely, Massey Ferguson and Fendt, Morris Tillage Equipment, Brandt, and in 2009 being granted the Franchise for Versatile, McCormick and Kioti-Daedong Tractors.

Also with Chris and Kaye’s two sons leaving the Business (Justin in 2000 and Andrew in 2003) the calling of the open road was beckoning and in Jan 2009 they sold the family Business to their Daughter and Son-In-Law, Donnelle and Grant Chapman.

Chris is still involved in the Business as a Machinery Sales Consultant something he thoroughly enjoys.  Grant is now the Dealer Principal and Donnelle as Office Manager.
